have to support this theory?
There are more “contentious”
parades and more associated
protests than ever and
despite more dialogue taking
place than before we are no
closer to resolution.

Church celebrated 68
years of witness on
Sunday 27th April
2008 and as part of
its celebrations
held a week of
special events which
culminated in a fun
day on Saturday
morning.

Somme Historical & Cultural
Society have held a variety
of fundraising events and
educational trips
culminating in a five day
trip to the battlefields of
France and Flanders.

Friday 27th June 2008
Greater Shankill
Alternatives unveiled the
“Tree” art sculpture in
Woodvale Park. This very
impressive and dominant
public art piece was the
culmination of several
months work by a group of
young people from
Alternatives and artist Alan
Cargo.

Fundraiser |
Some months
ago the
Shankill
Mirror
reported on
the untimely
death of
young Aaron
Bell.
Determined
to keep
Aaron’s
memory alive
and focused
some friends
and family
with the
support of
the City of
Belfast
Northern
Ireland
Supporters
Club decided
to run a
charity
fundraiser
in memory of
Aaron.

Friday 4th July saw
the annual Richard
Jameson Memorial
Lambeg Drumming
Match return to the
Rex Bar. The
competition
organised by EPIC
and West Belfast
Athletic and
Cultural Society
attracted drums from
across Ulster, with
participants
travelling from as
far away as
Coleraine.

website with
thousands of hits
per week it was
something of a
disappointment to us
at the Shankill
Mirror when our
delivery service was
asked to remove
copies of the paper
from the Crumlin
Road Health Centre.

area competing at a
2 day national event
at the Desertmartin
MotoCross Park
outside Magherafelt
organised by the
MotoCross Club of
