What IS the correct way to make a pot of Tea? Now a whole lot of readers will think that is one of the stupidest questions ever asked, but the truth of the matter is there is a right and a wrong way to brew up a pot of Tea. There is the choice of the Tea. Loose leaved Tea or the ever popular Tea bags. The Teas come in many blends and brands, but they all have one thing in common, they need to be brewed before drinking. First, the water must come to a rolling boil in the Kettle, with a full head of steam. The Teapot must be pre- warmed with some of the boiling water, and the water discarded before putting in the Tea. Next put in the Tea. The general rule for loose leaved Tea is one spoonful per person and one for the pot. In the case of Tea bags place the bag (or bags depending on the strength one desires) into the Pot with its connecting string(s) over the topside of the Teapot. Bring the water to a rolling boil once more and quickly but carefully pour into the Teapot.
How long should it “Steep”?
Under a couple of minutes and the Tea is too weak, but over steeped Tea is too bitter. The colour of the steeped Tea should remind one of the beautiful clear Amber beads once so highly priced by the Kings and Queens of Ireland. Rich in colour to warm the heart and soothe the soul. The Tea should be then poured into the cup and then add sugar and milk added last.
Then, and only then can one really enjoy a really good cup of Tea. So put on the Kettle, put the feet up, and have a cuppa!
Go on, you know your throats cut just dying for the chance! |
