Tea Connoisseurs have long favoured the romance of the blue and white,”Willow Pattern”. An old Chinese legend depicts the story of Koong Shee a Mandarin’s daughter and her lover Chang, her father’s
Accountant. Forbidden to wed, Chang captured Koong Shee from little blue house by the lake were her Father had imprisoned her. Escaping, the lovers fled over the bridge to a boat where a Willow tree
stood and found refuge in a Pagoda. The infuriated father set fire to the building and out of the flames arose two doves flying off to heaven. All these elements are captured in the blue under glazing
reminiscent of the Chinese Export period. Finely crafted, reproduction, tea caddy. The lid removes totally to facilitate the filling of contents.
Dimensions. Stands approximately ten and
a half inches tall. Six sided and approximately twenty three inches in circumference. Hand washing recommended. Imported.
